Crafted from 9ct Gold, this large vintage padlock clasp is in full working order. It is not hallmarked, but i would date it to the 1930s - 1940s.

In the centre of the padlock is a traditional shield shape, (which represents protection, faith, and strength) and which has three pinky rubies arranged in a diagonal line. On either side of these bright and sparkling rubies is a three leaf clover, the leaves of which, in jewellery terms, stand for faith, hope and love.

The reverse of this interesting and unique padlock is plain. It has a good weight of 2.20g and measures 2cm x 1.5cm.

This padlock pendant's versitility means you can either slip it onto a split ring or charm bracelet, or thread a fine chain through its side or centre, and wear it as a pendant. The padlock snaps shut firmly so could also be used as a secure clasp for a charm or curb link bracelet.
